The North Carolina Comprehensive Student Government Association (N4CSGA) would like to organize a statewide effort to assist those in need, and we need your help. We are asking each community college Student Government Association to work with their campus community and foundation to help raise funds to aid those in need. Many organizations and charities from across NC have pledged their support to our eastern communities, and we want to do our part. The N4CSGA mission states we seek to provide for the common welfare of; and represent all student members of student government organizations within the North Carolina Community College System, and as a result, we want to mobilize, energize, and synergize efforts throughout our system.
We are asking each college to create a fundraising drive on your campus to benefit those who have been affected by Hurricane Matthew. In order to expedite financial contributions being received by the communities in need, the affected community colleges have asked for contributions to be sent to their foundation via check or paid online with the designation of “Hurricane Matthew Relief”. Below you will find a directory of the community college foundations in areas that have been significantly affected by Hurricane Matthew, and how you can help.
For those institutions that wish to find other ways to help those in need, we encourage you to contact Agencies such as:
The Eastern NC Region of Red Cross
The Foodbank of Central and Eastern NC
The North Carolina Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster
With your help, our community colleges can assist students, faculty, and staff who have suffered a significant loss in the aftermath of the storm, and aid in the efforts rebuild their lives to help bring comfort during these very difficult times. Any time or amount you decide to donate will be very much appreciated and will make a huge difference in the lives of our neighbors whose lives have been upended.
